A moment in this story: After his wife loses her mind, a man devotes himself to caring for her. As the years pass he finds it harder and harder to relate with the outside world, withdrawing from his job, friends, and life. Caught between loyalty to his wife, the guilt of living while she cannot, and the frustration of seclusion, he suffocates and loosens his grip on the reality that has become meaningless to him.
